Notes on previous meetings: 24 September, 2011 our guest was Dr. Jeffrey Zonder.

The OHIO ASG meeting on Saturday was informative for all of us. Dr. Jeffrey Zonder, Karmanos Institute in Detroit led the group through a series of slides that pertained to the introductions we each gave in the beginning, so was relevant & individualized for all. Many questions were answered by both Dr. Zonder and the lovely intelligent Dr. Yvonne Efebera of the The James OSUMC team. Mike Uscio from the www.LLS.org has not missed one of our meetings - young, handsome with 2 small children, talked to the group about the latest local LLS monies/events. We heard Connie Hornbeck of Akron area about her charity, secure harbor, who drove 2 1/2 hours to join us. Connie & husband Tim, who has cardiac Amyloidosis, run a charity that provides help with housing and money for people who cannot afford going to BUMC.

There is a fundraising event in the Columbus, OH area - http://www.coybl.org/page/show/204992-welcome-to-the-central-ohio-youth-baseball-league- it is basically for MM, but the money goes to our own Don Benson, MD at The James OSUMC. On the web site, there is a video on the right side of Matthew Hare & his father. Matt, at age 27, has MM & Amyloidosis . Matt & his parents have been very active in our Ohio ASG. BTW Matt announced he is getting married and honeymooning in Italy!!! Congrats to Matt and his fiance!!

Our Guest October 3, 2009 – DR. DON BENSON and a wonderful experience with guided imagery with Psychologist Pat Van Kley and our LLS Rep Mike Uscio

Our Guests in March – DR. DON BENSON AND Dr. Sharla Wells-DiGregorio from the Pain and Palliative Care Service at the James, and our LLS r, Mike Uscio (Central Ohio)

I am very excited to announce that our OHIO meeting was a great success. We had people from WV, PA and Northern & Southern Ohio. One of our guests will have a SCT March 26 and 1 other, who at 26 yrs old, was 6 months out from a SCT. Another had a kidney transplant and many others SCT's. We had first timers and others who were regulars.

Our guest Sharla Wells-DiGregorio, PhD - Pain and Palliative Care Dept of OSUMC was very easy to talk with and a very interesting speaker. She met with the caregivers while Dr. Don Benson met with the patients.

Dr. Benson gave an update on clinical trials at OSU. He is such a personable man & stayed with us till the very end of the meeting. As a matter of fact, 15 or so stayed after we'd adjourned to chat and Dr. Benson stayed also. We couldn't ask for more.

Our Guest Speakers were be The Binding Site (Free Light Chains): Richard M. O'Hara, Jr., Ph.D., Technical Director The Binding Site, Inc.,and . Dr. Don Benson –over 35 happy attendees…

Our first meeting (March 1, 2008) had close to 30 attendees and our guests, Dr. Jeffrey Zonder, Dr. Don Benson, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Rep Mike Uscio and Muriel and Steve Finkel
