Summary
Dr. Zonder is a Leader of Multiple Myeloma Multidisciplinary Team at Karmanos Cancer Institute (http://www.karmanos.org/) , one of only 39 NCI Comprehensive Cancer Centers in the country. Dr. Zonder has had a specific interest in amyloidosis, multiple myeloma and closely related diseases since he was in Medical School at Wayne State University. He is a member of several professional societies including ASH, ASCO, American Medical Association and SWOG. Dr. Zonder's primary research interest is investigating new drug applications for malignant plasma cell disorders.
In addition to his role as the PI for 6 active myeloma trials and co-investigator for other 14 leukemia and lymphoma studies at the Karmanos Cancer Institute, Dr. Zonder was also the National Study Coordinator (PI) for the SWOG study S0232 - Dexamethasone +/- Lenalidomide for patients with newly diagnosed Multiple Myeloma, the results of which were presented by him at ASH 2007 and ASCO this year. Finally, Dr. Zonder is the national PI for a study for primary systemic (AL)-Amyloidosis evaluating the combination of melphalan, dexamethasone, and bortezomib. Upcoming Event: Karmanos Myeloma and Amyloidosis Patient Day - free to all patients and their families regardless of where they currently receive their cancer therapy, this program will offer patient-friendly informational seminars addressing a variety of topics, good food, free massage, and information from local and national vendors, foundations, and support groups.
